HOTHOUSE FLOWERS WILL NOT BE ATTENDING ST. PATRICK'S DAY HOOLEY

Hothouse Flowers apologise for not attending the St Patricks Eve Hooley (March 16th) as advertised. The band never confirmed this show and will not be on the bill as advertised, but are looking to come back to Kelly's Hotel, Portrush, Co. Antrim at a later date which is being discussed with the management

AN CÓR RTÉ ONE TV
An Cór starts Monday 8th March, RTÉ One, 7.30pm

Presented by Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers), AN CÓR features the experiences of six choirs as they immerse themselves in the culture, language and history of traditional Irish songs such as "Báidín Fhelimí", "Óró, Sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile", "An Poc ar Buile", "Bean Pháidín" and "Beidh Aonach Amárach". In each of the first three shows, two choirs compete against each other. Each choir must rehearse the song, learn and understand the words and get the pronunciation right before the judges select one to go forward to the final. While they're rehearsing, Fiachna travels the country to learn the back story of the songs themselves and mentors the choirs as they attempt to impress the judging panel with their final polished version. The three successful choirs from the heats compete in the final show, when one choir is crowned the winner.
Visit the RTÉ website for more information.

HOTHOUSE FLOWERS GOODNIGHT SUN

Hi Everyone, we would like to let you know about the upcoming release of Goodnight Sun, which was recorded live at the Kansas City Irish Festival 2009. It will be available initially during our U.S. Tour and to everyone else soon afterwards.

hothouse flowers goodnight sun We were onstage in Missouri. Kansas City Missouri . We were in the embrace of a great night and the sun was setting too my right.
'Good night sun' I said. 'be back before dawn '!
Well you know, Fiachna was the first to hear the recording that Stephen Ceresia and Phoebie made of that great embrace of music that we were blessed to be a part of . We decided it was worth putting out there to be heard . Every single bit of this earth is beautiful at sunset . Sunrise in our hearts.
Shine on rock and rollers'! :-)
Liam

Sitting on a rumbling metro somewhere underneath Barbes Rochechouart north of Montmartre in the wonderful city of Paris I plugged my headphones deep into my ears to drown out the surrounding clatter, pressed play on a recording of the band onstage in Kansas City that I had just been sent by our friend Stephen Ceresia to find the sound of four guys playing together, singing together, sending waves of music into a glowing sunset, having a laugh and rocking and rolling! My senses were immediately grabbed as I sat bolt upright careful not to be the guy on the train that sings out too loud from under the headphones! Its not often you hear a recording of yourself that makes you smile with excitement straight away.. all too often the details seem too big than the picture but here the gods of recording were on our side! Straight away I texted Liam telling him he had to hear this! We both agreed not to just keep it to ourselves so we've put it out as a live album.. Goodnight Sun!"

Fiachna

The two disc Goodnight Sun has the following tracks :-
DISC 1
Santa Monica, Ar Bhruach na Laoi, I Can See Clearly Now, Forevermore, Isn't It Amazing, Be Good, Sweet Marie, Trying to get Through.
DISC 2
An Emotional Time, Your Love Goes On, Sí Do Mhamó I, Amhrán na Trá Báine, Don't Go
We would loke to thank everyone who invloved in making this possible.
More details to follow.

IMRAM CEOIL - LIAM Ó MAONLAÍ WITH STEVE COONEY AND MORE
**Please Note this will now be on Sunday 27th September**
De stuif na miotaseolaíochta é Bob Dylan. Croílár a chuid oibre an tóraíocht ar an bhfírinne agus ar an áilleacht. Thar aon amhránaí eile, is cuid lárnach dá ealaín é an t-aistear – tá sé sna seascaidí anois ach fós féin feictear agus cloistear ar an ardán é oíche i ndiaidh oíche le díograis a náireodh a chomhaimsearaigh. Is imram é a shaol is a chuid ealaíne in aon nasc amháin, oilithreacht a ligeann dó go leor leor bealaí a shiúl, an ceol traidisiúnta, an agóidíocht, na gormacha, an snagcheol, an rac leictreach, ceol tíre, reggae agus gaspal. Caill é seo agus caillfidh tú do chiall.

Bob Dylan is legendary. At the heart of his work, there is a driven quest for truth and beauty. More than any other singer, journeying is central to his art – now in his sixties, he takes to the stage night after night with a zeal that puts his contemporaries to shame. His life and his art fuse in a unique imram that has seen him take countless musical detours – into traditional music, protest folk, blues, jazz, electric rock, country, reggae and gospel. Under the stewardship of ace musician and producer Steve Cooney, The Dylan Project assembles a unique group of highly skilled singers and musicians with an instinctive understanding of the authentic grooves of the originals, reworked to fit exquisite Irish renderings by Gabriel Rosenstock, Colm Breathnach and Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill. The line-up features singers Liam Ó Maonlaí and Caoimhín Mac Giolla Catháin; and musicians Steve Cooney, Bill Shanley, Rod McVey, Martin Brunsden and Robert Harris. More information available in the gigs section.

LIAM SOLO NEWS - ALBUM AND SHOWS
Liam's new album 'To Be Touched' was released in Ireland on Friday 28th November. It is now available to buy in all good record stores and from www.liamomaonlai.ie. The track 'On My Mind' from the album is up on www.myspace.com/liamomaonlaimusic from Monday.

PRESS RELEASE: 'To Be Touched' is the stunning new solo album from Liam Ó Maonlaí. It is a deep, rich, soulful collection of new piano-accompanied compositions. Recorded in Prague last July with the companionship and help of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, and funded by concerts the three of them performed there, 'To Be Touched' features Marketa on guest vocals along with the steady hand of Martin Brunsden on double bass.
Liam went into the studio with just three of the songs already written, the rest were born in the studio environment and continue to grow on this album.
From the light ease of 'Worry Not' and the intimacy of title track 'To Be Touched' the album exudes an atmosphere of calm and strength.
'To Be Touched' reintroduces Liam Ó Maonlaí as a songwriter of relevance and captures beautifully one of Ireland's greatest singers. Liam Ó Maonlaí has been inpsired by the great singers of the American plains. By the dance and ceremonial songs of the first nations of the continent of turtle island. By the pioneering folk, soul and blues musicians of modern USA. By the Arabic and Moorish expressions of divine love. By the pure tones of the Aboriginal people of Australia and by th egentle powerful music of West Papua. He made his career with rock and roll/soul music band Hothouse Flowers, this established his name as a singer of note in the soul/blues style. 'To Be Touched' is a birthing of his influences through the medium of song. He uses his first instrument the piano as a landscape for the wandering voice. Here are songs made of desire to open the heart and to share deep feelings.
